“Anandra, your teachings allowed the mantras to come to life within: Every sound within the mantra became a living, breathing essence that carried me deeper and deeper within the heart. Thank you for this profound gift.” -Kathryn Wiese, Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor, Kirtan Wallah and Director of There’s No Place Like OM Yoga Studio, Waimea, Hawaii

“Sanskrit has always felt like a necessary part of yoga teaching but was never my favourite thing… But the way Anandra teaches, the sounds are infused with magic. The tantric stories make the pronunciation meaningful, a sacred experience. It’s a whole new world.” - Kate Henry, Yoke Yoga

Weekend Two: Yin Sequencing (September 15-17)

In this weekend training, we dive deeper into the physical and energetic anatomy of Yin Yoga.  Through lecture, demonstrations, and led Yin practice you will be introduced to two different body maps: the Anatomy Trains of Tom Myers and the Five Organ Networks of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  You will learn how to use these maps to organize and deliver powerful and effective Yin Yoga sequences.

The Yin method embraces the anatomy of connection and a Yin approach helps students feel how the joints of the feet, ankles, knees, hips, spine, hands, wrists, and shoulders are influenced by myofascial chains that coordinate movement and direct energy. An effective sequence can help students feel these chains and find the broken links where they have lost the ability to move naturally and efficiently. Understanding the way the muscles and connective tissues regulate the flow of energy in the body can also help us understand and feel the meridians mapped by Traditional Chinese Medicine.  An understanding of the meridians can help you describe the more subtle dimensions of the postures so that your sequences are influential on multiple levels.

Who is this training for?

For yoga teachers and students alike.

For yoga teachers, learning the Yin method can make you a more knowledgable and versatile yoga teacher and help you reach a more diverse group of students.

For yoga students, learning the Yin method can help you understand how your own body moves (or how and why it gets stuck!) so you can restore areas of your body compromised by over-training, injury, or a more sedentary lifestyle.

About Jennifer:
