My yoga practice began in 2004 when I moved with my family to Geelong from Tasmania. With my two boys being just 1 & 3 and my husband Mark commuting to Melbourne for work each day, it was a very lonely time. I'd always played lots of competitive sport and I craved an energetic outlet so I joined a nearby Gym. I resisted the yoga class on the timetable for many of the same reasons I know most people do...I'm not flexible, what if I fall over and make a fool of myself!!! I figured, nobody knows me, I'm new to town, what have I got to lose? I was immediately hooked. My teacher, Linda Newman, then opened her own studio and I began a committed practice. I loved stepping onto my mat and being part of a beautiful nurturing yoga community.
Fast forward 10 years to 2014, I realised my desire to share my love of yoga and the way it had transformed my life. I registered with Power Living and completed my 200hr Teacher Training at the ripe age of 45!!! I hope to empower other women to realise you're never too old to follow your dreams. Many women lose their identity when they become mums. Yoga brings out your best and gives you an opportunity to connect with yourself, expand your resilience and increase your strength and grace in the face of challenge. It is an honour to hold space for my students. I encourage them to practice from their hearts and let go of all expectation. Just be.
